Build Your Artist's and Writer's Resume
How to build a compelling list of publications and exhibitions. Presented by Joan Gelfand.
How do you get exhibited
or published? How do artists and writers get to the MOMA? The New Yorker? By
working a strategic plan that combines systematic submissions of work,
networking and community involvement, artists and writers can improve their
'luck' and their chance at success. The workshop will have handouts that
include resource lists and guidelines for developing a submission strategy.
Group format. Target audience: Beginning and intermediate artists and writers.
An award winning poet and writer, Joan Gelfand's work is published in magazines and literary journals including Poets & Writers, Vanity Fair and The New York Times Magazine. A graduate of Mills College Masters in Writing, Joan currently serves as President of the Women’s National Book Association, a national organization of publishing industry professionals with 9 chapters and over 700 members. Her two full length collections are: “Seeking Center” published in 2006 by Two Bridges Press and “A Dreamer’s Guide to Cities and Streams” published in January 2009 by San Francisco Bay Press.
